Koh Chang Noi Island Klong Son Bay
Koh Chang Noi is a small uninhabited island on the extreme north-west tip of Koh Chang. It lies about 100 metres off the tip of the Laem Chang Noi cape, which forms the northern side of Klong Son Bay, the home of Siam Royal View, Koh Chang. It is one of two islands located on either side of the bay, the other being Koh Mapring. {timg title:=”Koh Chang Noi” thumb:=”images/stories/srv/properties/kohchangmarina/marinepark/chang%20noi%20beach%202small.jpg” img:=”images/stories/srv/properties/kohchangmarina/marinepark/chang%20noi%20beach%202.jpg” gal:=”gallery-content”} The island itself is unremarkable although there is a pleasant beach on the eastern side. The rest of the island is made up of little more than rocks and trees. The island can be reached by boat or kayak and is worth looking at if you are in the area. There is an old sign in Thai from the Thai Navy warning against trespassing, but equally the Bangkok Post lists the island as being open to the public during daylight hours seven days a week so it unlikely that a visit will attract any trouble from the authorities.

Time is better spent on the beach or snorkeling on the coral reef. The strait between Koh Chang Noi and Koh Chang is a healthy reef and occasionally plays host to scuba divers. Swimming the short distance between the two islands is not recommended, the currents can be strong and it is possible to get into difficulty. {timg title:=”Koh Chang Noi Viewed from Klong Son Bay” thumb:=”images/stories/srv/properties/kohchangmarina/marinepark/beach%20res-2small.jpg” img:=”images/stories/srv/properties/kohchangmarina/marinepark/beach%20res-2.jpg” gal:=”gallery-content”} Sailing Guide to Chang Noi IslandChang Noi Island is one of the islands closest to Siam Royal View’s Koh Chang Marina, so for boats based there it is an obvious place to visit. The strait between Koh Chang Noi and Laem Chang Noi is navigable and used daily by local fishing boats and sailors experienced in local waters. The waters immediately surrounding Koh Chang Noi are rocky so care is advised. Links to discovering the islands of the Mu Koh Chang ArchipelagoMu Koh Chang Archipelago Island Guide |
